Here's The Real Reason Why You Ghost!
There are times the Holy Spirit will lead you to cut off unbiblical connections, but MORE OFTEN THAN NOT believers who practice ghosting, walking away from relationships, vows, a church, a job, etc., do so in DYSFUNCTIONAL and UNBIBLICAL ways.
Aside from Holy Spirit-led decisions to end relationships the truth behind why you GHOST OR CUT OFF is that:
➊︎It’s defense mechanism
➋︎It’s an avoidance of painful conversations or escaping situations
➌︎It’s a trauma-response
➍︎Its a lack of emotional intelligence & maturity
➎︎It’s a lack of integrity
➏︎It’s selfishness—caring more about your own feelings while disregarding how it impacts others
➐︎It’s passive-aggressiveness
Cutting people off and ghosting:
➔︎Stunts your emotional development
➔︎Retards conflict resolution and communication skills
➔︎Erodes personal integrity
➔︎Makes you unaccountable
➔︎Hinders God’s ultimate plan for a relationship or situation
God knows that broken relationships can leave you and others broken. God also knows that relationships are what cause your brokenness, but that only relationships (with God and man) will bring about your healing.
What does The Word say about dysfunctional and unbiblical ghosting/poor endings and WHAT TO DO INSTEAD:
➊︎ If you don‘t wish to be cut off and ghosted, then don’t practice it with others.
》”︎And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.” – Luke 6:31
➋︎God wants your obedience more than your sacrifice. Leave the gift and go have the hard conversation as He leads.
》︎“Leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”— Matthew 5:24
➌︎A broken past ROBS you of True, Biblical Peace. By God’s grace, seek to reconcile yourself with your past.
》︎”Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.” — Romans 12:17-19
